All-New Toyota RAV4 Range Arriving In Australian Showrooms In 2026 Priced From $45,990

The sixth-generation RAV4 medium SUV is set to offer Toyota customers significantly improved levels of technology, upgraded safety and broader grade choice when the all-new range arrives in local showrooms late Q1 2026.

This all-new RAV4 range expands Toyota's multi-pathway offerings, featuring an efficiency hybrid (HEV) powertrain, and introducing Toyota’s first plug-in hybrid (PHEV) for Australia from Q3 2026, with prices starting at $45,990 plus on-road costs1 for the GX 2WD hybrid (HEV).

The new plug-in hybrid powertrain that offers substantially more power will be offered in two grades including the first-ever flagship RAV4 GR Sport exclusive in PHEV AWD only, with prices starting from $58,840 (plus $675 mandatory premium paint)1, for the XSE 2WD.

Toyota Australia Vice President Sales, Marketing and Franchise Operations Sean Hanley said the all-new RAV4 range will bring a significant increase in premium features and driveability to Australia’s most popular SUV.

“Toyota customers have increasingly gravitated towards hybrid technology over recent years, and the all-new RAV4 represents the next step on Toyota’s hybrid journey with the arrival of our first plug-in hybrid,” Mr Hanley said.

“Toyota is committed to offering its customers the right powertrain for the right application and use, and we believe this mix of efficient electrified powertrains along with excellent grade choice will help to make Australia’s favourite SUV more popular than ever.”

The GX 2WD HEV opens the all-new RAV4 range, bringing comprehensive standard specification and high levels of innovative technology from the entry level.

From the outside, the GX features 17-inch dark grey metallic alloy wheels, LED headlamps, roof rails, rear spoiler and acoustic front windshield glass, while inside, the all-new RAV4 debuts Toyota’s latest multimedia system.

Displayed on a 10.5-inch multimedia touchscreen display on GX, the new multimedia system offers customers an enhanced user experience with customisable widgets, new embedded voice assistant functions, connected streaming2 and satellite navigation3, crisper operation, and the all-new Embedded Drive Record feature, which uses the vehicle’s onboard cameras to act as a dashcam, allowing users to record and save video clips while driving.

The latest Toyota Connected Services2 is supported by the myToyota Connect app4, where users can access vehicle insights, connected navigation and more, all through a more advanced multimedia system. With over-the-air updates, a redesigned interface and an improved voice assistant, the all-new RAV4 is designed to be intuitive, responsive and up to date. The system also offers compatibility with wireless Apple Carplay®5 and Android Auto™6.

RAV4 GX variants also feature as standard dual-zone climate control, a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster, fabric upholstery with six-way manual driver and front passenger seat adjustment, reversing camera, six-speaker audio system and five USB-C charging ports.

All grades in the new RAV4 incorporate the next generation suite of Toyota Safety Sense driver assistance technologies. It includes a comprehensive active safety upgrade offering greater functionality and detection capability made possible through the adoption of Toyota’s new Arene software platform.

Standard safety features include the autonomous emergency braking pre-collision safety system, emergency steering assist, full-speed active cruise control, front and rear cross traffic alert, lane trace assist, proactive driving assist, automatic high beam, parking support brake and blind spot monitor with safe exit assist, along with eight SRS airbags.7

RAV4 GX customers can also choose the option of all-wheel drive from $49,3401, which along with an additional electric motor on the rear axle, also adds downhill assist control (DAC)7 and Trail and Snow drive modes for low-traction scenarios.

Both the GX 2WD and AWD grades can be optioned with a full-size 17-inch alloy spare wheel for an additional $300, replacing the standard temporary spare tyre.

Next in the RAV4 HEV range is the popular GXL grade, available from $48,9901 in 2WD guise or $52,3401 for the AWD.

The GXL adds 18-inch alloy wheels, privacy rear and rear side glass, silver painted front and rear skid plates, premium trim for the doors and instrument panel, leather-accented trim for the shift knob and steering wheel, eight-way powered driver’s seat with lumbar support, rain sensing wipers and a wireless smartphone charger8.

The adventure-focused Edge is available as an AWD HEV only and priced from $55,340, perfect for RAV4 customers seeking an active lifestyle.

The Edge is visually distinguished from the rest of the range by dark matte grey metallic alloy wheels, unique front and rear bumpers and wider black wheel arches.

Inside, the Edge gains the larger 12.9-inch multimedia touchscreen display, premium trim upholstery, heated front seats, illuminated entry, metallic ornamentation, cargo area side pocket with netting and a powered tailgate.

The penultimate hybrid model grade in the all-new RAV4 range is the AWD-only XSE priced from $58,3401 (plus $675 mandatory premium paint), which features 20-inch black alloy wheels, black front and rear bumpers with integrated skid plates, enhanced LED headlamps, panoramic view monitor, black wheel arches, rocker and door moulding, and a two-tone paint scheme.

Inside, the XSE adds combination premium trim and suede upholstery with contrast blue stitching, climate concierge, three-stage front-seat heating and ventilation, eight-way powered front passenger seat, driver’s seat memory, tilt and slide moonroof and storage tray illumination.

The flagship of the all-new RAV4 hybrid range is the luxurious Cruiser, available in 2WD or AWD guise and priced from $56,990 and $60,3401 respectively.

Unique features of the Cruiser grade include its 20-inch machined black alloy wheels, high-grade LED headlamps, tilt and slide panoramic moon roof, genuine leather-accented seat trim with driver memory seats, shift-by-wire shift lever with integrated parking brake, head-up display, digital rear view mirror, heated outboard rear seats, powered tailgate with kick sensor, two wireless smartphone chargers8 and a premium nine-speaker JBL®9 sound system.

The first plug-in hybrid powertrain offered by Toyota in Australia will be the RAV4 XSE and flagship GR Sport grades, the former offered with both 2WD and AWD arrangements and priced from $58,840 and $63,3401, respectively.

The XSE PHEV offers the same level of specification as its HEV counterpart with the exception of its larger disc brakes, water repellent front side glass and a 1500W inverter in the cargo area, which replaces the existing 12V outlet on HEV grades and allows for the charging of small appliances through the larger PHEV battery.

The first-ever RAV4 GR Sport marks the pinnacle of the new-generation RAV4 range, bringing multiple unique mechanical and design enhancements that clearly distinguish it as the most performance-oriented member of the new RAV4 range.

Priced from $66,340, the GR Sport features a 20mm wider tread compared with the rest of the range (+10mm on each side) which increases handling stability, along with a front performance damper, rear brace and unique coil and spring rates. An exclusive electric power steering tune further sharpens the dynamics of the GR Sport.

The increased track width is paired with wide black wheel arches framing stylish 20-inch black alloy wheels and red brake calipers, unique front and rear bumpers, a wing-type rear spoiler and GR badging which combine to help the GR Sport stand out from the crowd.

Sporty touches continue inside the cabin with aluminium pedals, GR Sport heated steering wheel with paddle shifters, red stitching and GR logos for the premium trim and suede upholstery and GR Sport suede knee pads.

Other luxury features added, compared with the XSE PHEV, include a digital rear view mirror, 45W USB-C charging ports, head-up display, powered tailgate with kick sensor, shift-by-wire shift lever with integrated parking brake, driver seat with anti-static material, two wireless smartphone chargers8 and the nine-speaker JBL®9 premium audio system.

With its plug-in technology combined with Toyota’s sixth-generation hybrid system, the PHEV versions offer the most powerful RAV4 to date, teaming a 2.5-litre petrol engine with a front and rear electric motors on AWD grades for a total combined output of 227kW. 2WD grades remove the rear electric motor and offer a 200kW combined output.

A large-capacity 22.7kWh lithium-ion battery pack provides ample EV-only driving range for shorter trips and supports both 50kW DC charging and 11kW three-phase AC charging.

Hybrid RAV4 grades employ Toyota’s sophisticated fifth-generation 2.5-litre series-parallel hybrid system offering seamless operation and excellent fuel efficiency, with peak combined output of 143kW for both 2WD and AWD powertrains.

The new RAV4 range will be offered with a total of 10 single-tone and four two-tone paint options depending on grade, while Cruiser variants will have the option of a Neutral Beige interior colour scheme alongside the black offered on the rest of the range.10
